Youth and Community Action Team
Our Mission
The mission of YCAT is to promote healthy living within the Virginia Beach community via awareness, education, and action

About Us
The Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT) is a community coalition targeting substance abuse prevention in the City of Virginia Beach.
YCAT was formed in 2008 by merging an underage drinking coalition and an anti-tobacco coalition that were both supported by the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division of the Department of Human Services in the City of Virginia Beach. Currently, YCAT has a volunteer board and membership who are committed to collaborating with any public and private agency using evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk factors that lead to substance abuse while increasing protective factors that help to prevent substance abuse.
The YCAT coalition is based on the nationally recognized Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (http://www.cadca.org/) model and as such YCAT members represent all segments of the community including youth, parents, the military, youth serving agencies, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, universities and schools, health care professionals, the recovery community, substance abuse treatment/prevention providers, businesses, media, plus civic and volunteer associations.

Creating drug -free communities is a group effort!
