Human Trafficking Forum // January 2014
Sponsored by the Virginia Beach Crime Prevention Steering Committee, a Human Trafficking Forum was held January 23rd at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church where YCAT participated by having a resource table.

Prescription Drug Take Back // April 2014
A DEA sponsored Prescription Drug Take Back event was held Saturday, April 26th at all the Police Precincts. YCAT participated at the Third Precinct (Bayside) handing out substance abuse prevention and wellness materials to citizens and assisting the police officers as needed.

Voices for Change // May 2014
The Voices for Change Town Hall Meeting to Prevent Underage Drinking was held on May 17th at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. The event was sponsored by the Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT) and the City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services Behavioral Health and Wellness Prevention Services (formally known as Prevention Services), Substance Abuse and Mental HealthAdministration (SAMHSA) and the Virginia Beach Police Department, Crime Prevention Unit. Over 75 youth and adults participated in this community event.

Mayor's Action Challenge // July 2014
At the July YCAT meeting Jolynn Turner from the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health gave a presentation on the Mayor’s Action Challenge. As part of the challenge, the Let’s Move Campaign was developed to help reduce obesity in the City of Virginia Beach. Partners include the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, Virginia Beach Department of Agriculture, Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Square One, Virginia Beach Restaurant Association and the Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT). This campaign is also part of the national Let’s Move Cities, Towns and Counties and the Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) programs.

Green Run National Night Out // August 2014
The National Night Out was held on August 5th at Green Run High School. YCAT members distributed and collected completed Youth Surveys at the event. The event was well attended by the Green Run community members and the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Strategic Prevention Framework Training // September 2014
The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) Training was held on Thursday, September 4th at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) for all coalition members and prevention professionals from neighboring cities. The trainer was from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) organization that is nationally recognized for representing coalitions working to make communities safe, healthy and drug-free.

Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk // September 2014
YCAT joined the Office of Consumer Affairs Hope In Motion Team on Saturday, September 6th to walk and raise awareness for suicide prevention.

SYNAR Merchant Education // November 2014
During the November YCAT meeting a SYNAR Merchant Education presentation was given by Suzanne Phelps. The YCAT members have been asked and agreed to support the local SYNAR Merchant Education efforts.

VCCS Student Leadership Conference // November 2014
YCAT was represented at the community awareness health fair sponsored by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) on Friday, November 14th. YCAT disseminated substance abuse prevention resources and shared coalition information to well over 65 student leaders from across the state.
